The Rare Seasons Costa Rica Experience

Strength in the morning, ocean in the afternoon

Santa Teresa sits on the Nicoya Peninsula, on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. It is a Blue Zone, one of only five on earth where people reliably live longer. Jungle on one side, the ocean on the other.

We take a private jungle campus for five nights. Daily training with Talon Power, long open-air lunches, sauna and cold plunge, and afternoons in the town and in the water. A small group, the whole property to ourselves, and every detail handled.

The flow

The shape of the week

This is the shape of the week, not a schedule.

Training
Daily sessions with Talon

Talon leads the group every day, out of a gym that opens straight onto the jungle. HIIT, strength and conditioning, and a mindset thread that runs the length of the week.

The table
Breakfast and lunch

Breakfast and lunch at re:center each day, open-air and farm to table. Group dinners across the stay, some on property and some out in the town of Santa Teresa.

Recovery
Cold plunge, sauna, pool

Sauna, cold plunge and the pool, for after the work rather than instead of it. re:center was built around recovery, so it sits in the fabric of the place rather than at the edge of it.

The water
Surfing

A group surf lesson at Playa Hermosa, in the warm water and inviting waves off Santa Teresa. Time to paddle back out on your own after it.

The town
Beach days and exploring

Daily transport into Santa Teresa. Beach afternoons, the road down through the jungle, and a town that keeps its own pace.

The peninsula
Waterfall hikes

Waterfall hikes on the Nicoya Peninsula, out past where the road gives up.

More to come
Still being planned

A couple of further activities and events are still being planned. Not withheld, just not finished. They will be good.

Meet Your Instructor

Talon Power

Talon Power trains out of Los Angeles. His programming is built on HIIT, strength and mindset, and it is the spine of the week in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.

Sessions run daily in re:center's gym, which opens onto the jungle. Strength and conditioning, high intensity work, and a mindset thread that ties the training to how you show up away from it. He is also great company, and better on the dance floor than any strength coach we've ever seen.

Strong bodies, healthy minds, and a lot of exciting shared experiences along the way.

The setting

re:center

Our home for the week is re:center, a private jungle campus about ten minutes from town. Rooms are woven through the trees. A full gym open to the jungle, a sauna, a cold plunge, a pool, an open-air kitchen, and massage and bodywork on site.

Rare Seasons takes the whole property. The group is the only party there.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Who is this retreat for?

Accomplished people with full lives who want a week that leaves them stronger than it found them. Guests who train, or who mean to, and who care about good conversation and considered surroundings just as much.

Group travel tends to pick a side. It is either austere and earnest, or it is a week of drinking with a beach attached. This is the middle ground. Real training, good food, proper exploration, and evenings worth staying up for.

Most people arrive on their own. That is the point.

What is the training like?

Talon Power leads a session every day in re:center's gym, which opens straight onto the jungle. HIIT, strength and conditioning, and a mindset thread that runs through the week.

It is built to be approachable at every level of experience. Whether you have trained for years or started last month, the work meets you where you are.

Where is Santa Teresa, and how do I get there?

Santa Teresa is a town on the Nicoya Peninsula, on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. It is one of the world's five Blue Zones, the regions where people reliably live longer. Jungle on one side, the Pacific on the other.

Fly into San José (SJO). Approximate nonstop times: six hours from Los Angeles, four and a half from Austin, five and a quarter from Chicago, five and a half from New York.

From San José we recommend the domestic flight to Cobano, about thirty minutes, then roughly sixty to seventy five minutes by road to re:center. About three hours door to door.

A ground transfer the whole way from San José runs five to six hours. It is available if you would rather drive it, and that is your call.

re:center sits about ten minutes from town.

What will the weather be like?

April closes the dry season on the Pacific coast. Warm, reliably sunny days averaging in the mid 80s Fahrenheit, around 29 Celsius. Evenings stay warm, with a steady offshore breeze that suits both surf and recovery. Pack for heat, sun and salt water.

What is not included?

Our retreats are designed to be as all-inclusive as possible, so you can stay present rather than track incidental costs. Not included:

  • Airfare to and from Costa Rica
  • Airport transport at either end
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Dinners on the evenings the group is not eating together
  • Massage and bodywork at the property
  • Personal shopping and incidental expenses

We send recommendations for getting to the property. A one way transfer from Cobano airport to re:center runs about $35.

Bring a card and a little cash for anything you pick up during free time. The aim is to remove friction while leaving room for spontaneity.

How do I reserve my place?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Approved guests receive a booking link with the room options on it.

A 25 percent deposit at that point secures your place.

What is the payment plan?

A 25 percent deposit is due at booking. The remaining 75 percent is split evenly across two installments, on fixed dates:

  • First installment, due December 15, 2026
  • Second installment, due February 15, 2027

On a $3,000 place that is $750 at booking, then $1,125 twice.

Booking after December 15, 2026 means paying in full at booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

Deposits are fully refundable until November 15, 2026. After that date, deposits and payments are non-refundable.

We recommend travel insurance for every trip.

What happens after I book?

You receive a confirmation email straight away, with the information you need to book your travel.

More detail follows as the dates get closer, so you arrive prepared rather than guessing.
